Forum 3_History of Engineering
Q Many of the most famous Renaissance men were both great artists and great engineers. Today we tend to think that these skills are very distinct. Do you agree or disagree? Give specific examples to make your case.
I agree that today an artist and an engineer forms a distinctive branch. We cannot expect an artist to function like an engineer and vice versa. This is because today artists are considered those people who are emotionally driven and they do not have to be functional. Engineers on the other hand, are considered people who find out technical solutions to a problem and they have to be functional. If we see Filippo Brunelleschi, he was both an artist and an engineer. He used to do perspective drawings that helped to present the pictorial depictions of space.
